School of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering aims to cultivate a high level of special application-based skills in Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, Environmental Engineering, Water & Drainage Engineering of Building. There are three departments in the school: Department of Hydrology and Water Resources, Department of Environmental Engineering, and Department of Water and Drainage Science and Engineering. The school offers one doctorate program, four master programs in Hydraulic Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geological Resources & Geological Engineering, Environmental Science & Engineering and three bachelor programs in Hydrology & Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, Water Supply & Drainage Engineering. Now, there are about 80 postgraduate students and about 920 undergraduate students in the school (as of 2015).

Staff

School of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering has many excellent researchers and instructors including 8 professors and 12 associate professors. In recent years, teachers have successfully undertaken about 40 research projects funded by Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Chinese National Programs for Fundamental Research and Development (973 Program), National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), Bureau of Science and Technology for National Defense Industry, Chinese Ministry of Education. These projects mainly focus on hydrogeochemisty, uranium bio-leaching, geothermal resources and environmental issues in mining areas.

Facilities

The school boasts one national level and one provincial level academic center for experimental demonstration in the field of radioactive hydrogeology and hydrogeochemistry. These centers are equipped with a number of advanced equipments including Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, Ion Chromatography, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)and Real-time Quantitative PCR Detecting System.

Hydraulic engineering

Introduction

Hydraulic engineering is a hugely potential and promising professional discipline which involves in prospect, evaluation, exploitation, utilization, programming, management and protection of hydraulic engineering. This discipline mainly studies the basis of hydrology and water resources engineering, fundamental professional theory and basic work skills as well as operational approach. Hydraulic engineering focuses on the water environment a problem during the exploiting processes of water resource refers to the fields of hydrodynamics and hydro-geochemistry, metal mining etc. Studying the geological disaster and prevention technology, the exploitation and evaluation of geotechnical engineering, and hydraulic architectures etc. and it also researches the relationship and conflicts between the supply and demand in the development of society and economy. This major also discusses the key technologies of solving these professional scientific questions.

Environmental Sciences and Engineering


Introduction

 The Environment Science and Engineering subject of East China University of Technology (ECUT) was developing on the basis of the majors of Radiation Environment Monitoring and Applied Chemistry (Direction of Environmental Chemistry). Environmental Engineering was established in 1998. Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science was given as the second-level discipline master’s degree authorized points respectively in 2004 and 2006, and in 2010, the Environmental Science and Engineering was granted the first-level discipline master’s degree authorized points, Environmental Engineering from it is the specialty and brand major of Jiangxi province. The discipline had undertaken a total of more than 20 projects from the National Key Basic Research Program (973 Program), the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), the National Natural Science Fund, the major bidding project of Jiangxi province and Jiangxi province natural science fund project, respectively obtained one prize of the second prize of Jiangxi province natural science and the second prize of Jiangxi province technology progress, 2 invention patents, published more than 50 papers on SCI and EI, and a Monograph, formed a distinctive and promising research directions of soil heavy mental-organic compound pollution remediation, mining environmental biotechnology, environmental purifying materials, radionuclide migration and conversion and so on.

Ecological Resources and Geological Engineering


Introduction

Ecological Resources and Geological Engineering as a characteristic and superiority subject of East China University of Technology, was awarded high level discipline of National "Twelfth Five-Year" Plan of Jiangxi province. This discipline mainly has the following 4 research directions: (1) Exploration and evaluation of mineral resources: the geological background, metallogenic conditions, metallogenic conditions, metallogenic mechanism, exploration of the space distribution and time evolution of the mineral deposits are mainly studied. Furthermore the theoretical and technical methods of scientific and effective mineral prediction, exploration and evaluation are also mainly studied. (2) Geodetection and Information Technology: Using specialized instruments to receive various physical information from underground; Mathematical physics method is applied to extract or separation of useful information, combined with the geological conditions on the useful information to explain, inference detection object position, scope and the occurrence of the underground occurrence. It is indispensable to geology and mineral resources exploration and basic geological study. (3) Geologic engineering: It’s problems in the fields of hydrology geology and engineering geology. (4) Geological disposal of nuclear waste: Mainly aimed at the high level radioactive waste repository site selection, radionuclide migration and other aspects of the study.
